chapmanlab After many months of collaborative research between I2CNER, Kyushu University and Tokyo University, our joint paper on the future hydrogen economy and societal penetration of hydrogen was published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.
This paper models future hydrogen economy scenarios, cognizant of policy implementation, carbon targets, technology learning curves, and the potential delay of carbon capture and sequestration technologies.
We identify that hydrogen may play a significant role in the future energy system, accounting for up to 2% of final energy consumption. A significant use case identified by our research was that of fuel cell vehicles – particularly in the US, Japan, Western Europe, China and South East Asia.
